Chairman’s Planning Guide Project: Member Business Page PLANNING 1. PRIMARY PURPOSE. (WHAT IS THE ONE REASON YOU WANT TO SUCCESSFULLY RUN THIS PROJECT?) The primary purpose of this project is provide members with an opportunity to promote their businesses in our newsletter. 2. GIVE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION. FOLLOW THIS WITH A LIST OF THE SPECIFIC AND MEASURABLE GOALS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED BY THIS PROJECT. (EXAMPLE: TO INVOLVE 25 JAYCEES.) Description: Any member of our chapter can put their business card on a page of the newsletter. We title the page with a request for our chapter members to patronize these businesses. As more members submit business cards, we can add more pages. This project will assist in attaining the goal “Involve at least 20 different chapter members in at least one Business Opportunities project” in the Business Opportunities Pinnacle Area/CPG Category, under the Management Area, as outlined in the 1998 Chapter Planning Guide for the West St. Louis County Jaycees. Goals: A. To have at least 5 business cards in each newsletter. B. To activate at least 5 members by having them participate in the business card page. C. To recruit 2 new members by offering them the chance to promote their business. D. To run the project at no cost to the chapter. 3. WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC MANPOWER ASSIGNMENTS? (SHOW NAMES AND DUTIES.) A. President: Name: Beth Cox Duties: 1. To insure that the goals established in the chapter plan are accomplished. 2. To serve as an ex-officio member of the planning committee for this project. B. Programming Vice President: Name: Stacey Rader (Management) Duties: 1. To assist the chairperson in any way necessary for successful completion of this project. 2. To make sure the Chairman’s Planning Guide is completed for the project. 3. To recruit members to serve on the planning committee. 3. To assist with internal publicity at General Membership Meetings. 4. To collect the business cards and format the page for the newsletter. 5. To handle all financial matters concerning this project, including handling any monetary income and payment of any bills. 3. To assist with internal PR of the project through the use of the chapter newsletter. 2. To assist with any other matters concerning this project as they are needed. G. Manpower – In addition to the above planning committee members, the successful completion of this project will require a total of 5 additional members from the chapter. 4. Solution: Publicize the business card page at general membership meetings, in the membership brochure, and at projects. Problem: Prospective members need to know that the opportunity exists. Solution: Remind members to promote the business card page when they are talking to prospective members about joining the Jaycees. IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION 8. RECORD ANY REVISION OF THE ORIGINAL PLAN. Date: 7/16/98 Revision: We collected so many business cards that we had to use two pages! 9. LIST SOLUTIONS OR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A FUTURE CHAIRPERSON. I think this is a great recruiting and activation tool, in addition to being a great business opportunity for our members. Several members that have their own business or work on commission have already reported that they have new business from our chapter. I would recommend promoting this project heavily. 10. GIVE SPECIFIC AND MEASURABLE RESULTS FOR EACH GOAL ESTABLISHED. DESCRIBE THE IMPACT OF THIS PROJECT ON THE CHAPTER, INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS, AND THE COMMUNITY. Goal Results: A. To have at least 5 business cards in each newsletter. - This goal was met. We have 8 business cards. B. To activate at least 5 members by having them participate in the business card page. – This goal was met. We had 5 members submit cards that had not been active members. C. To recruit 2 new members by offering them the chance to promote their business. – This goal was met. We recruited 2 members who immediately submitted their business cards. D. To run the project at no cost to the chapter. – This goal was met. Benefit to the Individual: The individual members benefits by promoting their business and receiving new business opportunities. The individual member also benefits by finding chapter members to provide services, sometimes with a Jaycee discount! Benefit to the Chapter: The chapter benefits by providing business opportunities to its members and helping them promote their business. This gives the members more funds and opportunities to help the chapter. The chapter can also use this as a recruiting and activation tool.
